Still feeling the buzz over the dozens of Halloween activities that were all happening at the same time? The fun doesn’t have to end on a FOMO note when there’s still plenty of spookiness to be had in game form.

Contents
  • Pumpkin Jack
  • Hell Pie
  • Voltaire: the Vegan Vampire
  • Little Witch in the Woods
  • Magicraft
  • Rift of the Necrodancer
  • Deck of Haunts
  • Monster Train 2
  • Mind Over Magic
  • Ravenous Devils

From cozy magic, chaotic mischief, and downright sinister, this list of post-Halloween games are all the scares you need to reminisce on the season’s strange and supernatural vibe.

Pumpkin Jack

Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck, Switch 1/2, PS4/PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S)

Tis’ the season to be evil. Give in to this classic action platformer where you’re actually the villain. Halloween wouldn’t be complete without the bad guys anyway, right?

This pumpkin-headed freak happily takes on a slew of other spooky characters in equally fitting environments. Deliver haunting tricks through unlocking a number of weapons at your disposal, all while laughing manically.

The tropes hit you right in your face, and have every bit of Halloween’s naughty spirit. Nothing gets you into the mood of frightening tales other than this opening title.

Hell Pie

Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck, Switch 1/2, PS4/PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S)

Satan wants to celebrate with a birthday pie. Yes, a pie so good it’s bad. Now you have to gather the ingredients as the so-called Demon of Bad Taste, which takes you across horrid destinations against weirdo creatures that get in your way.

Behind you is an enslaved angel that’s not quite as cute as a cherubim. What life did it lead before you roped it into your sick adventures?

Published by the same team as Pumpkin Jack, this culinary-based adventure is a nasty, obscene, and crazy ride through hell. And don’t say you weren’t warned!

Voltaire: the Vegan Vampire

Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck, Switch 1/2)

If you’re feeling a pang of rebellion in your blood these days, that’s totally normal. Just ask the young Voltaire, a descendant of Dracula, who has a sudden realization and decided he wanted violence. Or, that is… no more violence involved when taking his meals.

As a newly plant-based vampire, you have to build your own farm to sustain yourself. At night, your father unleashes destruction on your crops to deter you from being who you want to be…

Will Voltaire make it through his new, green revolution? Or is his father’s wish to continue the blood-sucking tradition set in stone? Only one way to find out.

Little Witch in the Woods

Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck, Switch 1/2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S)

As Ellie, you are a charming apprentice witch who is eager to master the craft.

This open world, cozy simulation will take you to forests, lakes, libraries, and inside rooms with cauldrons where the magic literally happens. There’s a lot to do, too. Rather endless, if you’re up to it.

Its heartwarming charm is perfect if you lean towards the season’s more moon cleanse, pumpkin lattes, and treats in the oven vibe.

Let the chaos reign outside. This is your cozy coven.

Magicraft

Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck)

Following the familiar yet endlessly rewarding path of games with lots to discover, Magicraft lets you take on the Demon King using a mix of spells, relics, and attributes. The experience becomes a fun, chaotic run with combinations that can feel boundless.

Unleash magical mayhem by fusing elements and buffs for that perfect synergy. Customization can run deep, which shapes your playstyle however you like.

As the battles ramp up, surviving becomes all the more satisfying. It’s unpredictable and addictive.

Rift of the Necrodancer

Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck, Switch 1/2)

The series continues with its musical combat roots with added new twists to the usual mechanics of the genre. Go toe-to-toe with a charming rhythm game where you battle ghouls, skeletons, and zombies all trying to make you skip a beat.

Each encounter becomes a dance between timing, reflex, and groove.

Mastery comes with repetition, but casual players will find plenty of joy in simply moving with the rhythm, and other ways to keep in tune. A game for rhythm lovers that hits all the right notes, sprinkled with a spook factor.

Deck of Haunts

Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck, Switch 1/2, PS5, Xbox Series X/S)

Decorating for Halloween? Perfectly fine. But why not go all out and become the haunted house? No costumes needed, you are the entire closet, walls, floors, and all that.

As a sinister abode, a deck of cards lets you summon spirits to unleash a reign of terror on victims trying to turn you into a totally normal, non-spooky house. Ew! This is a house of fear, and the more you progress, the more ways to tear away your victims to extract their essence.

Construct a maze around your source of power, the Heart room, and let no meddling human inside it.

Monster Train 2

Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck, Switch 1/2, PS5, Xbox Series X/S)

Fallen angels and demons form an uneasy alliance, taking you through hordes of enemies known as Titans.

A sequel to the Monster Train series with new clans, card types, and other features. This deckbuilding game offers seemingly limitless possibilities to expand. And now it features Endless Mode!

Its customizations allow for great replayability, where wave after wave of enemies will pass you by and yet there’s always another battle, another combo, and another build to try.

One last horde, you say? Well, there’s more where that came from.

Mind Over Magic

Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck)

One great way to appease your desire for sorcery is through watching your own magic school grow from wall to wall, with students learning new abilities through your help.

Look after your amateur spellcasters so they learn new abilities, unfolding more and more of the world’s secrets beyond the school halls.

There’s space to build grand plans, and experiment with strange materials. It’s an endearing atmosphere with whimsical charm, all wrapped in powerful, unpredictable magic.

Let your school thrive to uncover the secrets beneath its enchanted halls.

Ravenous Devils

Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck, Switch 1/2, PS4/PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S)

Nothing can taste better than satisfying your villain tendencies. Hide your kids, hide your knives, this game is cooking with a side of crime. All you want is to become a great entrepreneur, no matter the cost.

Become a husband and wife duo where you are heinous managers of a tailor shop and a pub, and then you’ll find out soon enough how these two work so bloody well together.

Apart from being dark and incredibly wicked, this short, twisted simulation is just the right amount of gruesome and management in one.

Even while the holiday lights start to twinkle and the world moves on to cheerier things, the little bit of darkness inside you can always stay.

So, which of these spooky games are you keeping in rotation, Halloween and all the seasons in between?
