Zeverland is a game with zombies like never before, if its trailer is to be believed.

Soon to be Available on PC (Windows, macOS) via Steam

Much like other survival zombie games, you work to hunt, craft, and build structures, all to ensure the community survives. But one of the key differences is the art direction. Most zombie survivals aim for realistic graphics, but Zeverland chooses 3D chibis, preferring a stylized world.

Another interesting thing is the ability to craft cool and creative weapons you can use when you’re out of ammo.

By far, however, the most interesting thing about Zeverland, and the one big thing that differentiates it from other zombie survival games, is that once you get bitten and turned into a zombie, you can just keep playing. Yep! You can live off your undead dreams and be a zombie. And that opens up so many possibilities.

In the trailer, they show that you “upgrade” yourself by replacing limbs or consuming other “lesser” zombies. So I’m wondering if that means there are multiple combinations, if it’s like a skill tree, or if it’s just a steady progression. I’m really hoping it’s more of a skill tree, so we can try out all sorts of builds. That would be really fun.

On its Steam page, it says there are options to help or sabotage people regardless if you’re a survivor or a zed— their word for zombie (zed and survivor duos, anyone?). And honestly, that’s a tricky slope, knowing how mean people can get in cooperative games. Have the devs really thought this through? I mean, this could easily just turn into a battle royale instead. It’s every man and zombie for themselves.

Either way, Zeverland seems to be a game that asks “what if?” and tries to actually figure out how to make fun, out-of-the-box ideas work. I’m personally hoping their hard work pays off. You can wishlist or follow the game on Steam now to get updates on its progress!
