Pirofauna Game Trailer
Will be Available on PC (Windows, macOS); Consoles (Steam Deck);
I cannot even begin to explain my excitement in seeing this little arsonist.
This trailer shows you controlling a living flame. You burn away these spirit-like entities, reignite homes, maybe become beloved by all bugs. All while looking absolutely derpy.
But just when you think this was going to be just another cute, cozy game, you find out that it’s also entirely made of paper.
No, I don’t mean this metaphorically or anything. The actual environments you see in the game are handmade by Thomas Ostafin of Petums.
On their Steam page, they describe this as a world where bugs and plants adore fire. The reason the living flame comes to life is due to an ancient tradition where the bugs of the world care for their own fireplace and keep its flames alive. The living flame is brought to life by a mayfly and its ancestors, who apparently kept and cared for their fire for so long that it just woke up. That’s you! And there starts the journey.

You use your movement and abilities to burn everything you see and touch, unlock abilities, and burn away the ghosts that have extinguished the light and darkened these woods. You can also help bug villagers with tasks, chores, requests, etc.
According to their Steam info, the game is meant to be a short 2-3 hour adventure, and that sounds about right for these types of games. It’s a sweet spot. Not too long that it becomes boring and not too short that you’re left unsatisfied.

I’m more excited to see the craftsmanship that’s gone into this game, however. No doubt that it’s going to be mind-blowing. Tomasz Ostafin is the same developer for Papetura, so his paper-crafted style is already known for its eerie atmospheric vibe. If you’ve not checked that one out, please do!
And it seems that soon we’ll be given a demo to check out! So if you’re interested, keep an eye out for that. As for myself, I’m looking forward to more updates of this game.
